I’ve never seen anything like it. What this Ukranian artist can do with sand is absolutely amazing.

This is an acappella Michael Jackson remix. It incorporates his biggest hits and is by no surprise far better than the BET Awards tribute.

Did you know placenta juice combined with vitamin E is good for your hair. I was at Navarro looking for a new shampoo and found this one made with placenta. It was between Suave and Flex and less than $7. I was intrigued by the description on the bottle-nourishes dry hair, adds protein and moisture…Don’t freak out I didn’t buy this. After my bitch Sofi had her first litter of 6, and I saw her eat each placenta with umbilical cords as a side dish, I just can’t put that stuff in my hair. Ewww. What’s next menstrual conditioner with estrogen?

I was covering the first annual Miami Beach gay pride parade this Saturday and I ran into Pussilla, a female impersonator I met last year at a gay rights protest in South Beach. It was quite a humbling experience to have met his mother who came to show her support. As Pussilla was putting on his rollerblades and double checking his outfit, his mom said she has never been prouder of him.
Looking at this photo of Pussilla, let your imaginatio run wild— cause that’s what it was like— Crazy Beautiful!
There were some outrageous floats with pirates and mermaids but the diversity in the crowd stole the show. It seemed as though everyone wore their craziest brightest outfit with every accessory they had in their closet.
There were flashy flamboyant characters, families and people even brought their dogs. Too bad I was on assignment otherwise Bob, my friendly go lucky shaggy dog, would’ve been walking down Ocean wearing his rainbow scarf and camouflage hat.
I’ll post a link to the Edge the article that should be up this week along with a slideshow with all the photos that Buddahfunk took.

I finally decided to take the day off, on Easter Sunday, to watch I Love You, Man. What a movie! I was laughing from beginning to end. I’m getting the giggles just thinking about it. I haven’t seen a comedy this funny since Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Let me give ya the synopsis without giving too much away.
Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) is getting married and he doesn’t have any friends to be his best man. Feeling awkward about it he sets out to make some. Peter unexpectedly meets Sydney Fife (Jason Segel from Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and the mishaps begin.
This is by far the funniest movie I’ve seen this year. It’s defintely going into my flick collection, right next to 40 year-old Virgen and Harold and Kumar.
As for the pic of the vending machine, it’s the down side of going to the theaters. They charge $4.25 for a 20oz. bottle of water—how ridiculous is that. Since I’ve started school I’ve become a penny pincher. So, yes I prefer to be thirsty for two hours than to give in to these corporate vultures charging 3 times the costs of a bottle of water.

I had no idea that I made these faces while I ate until I saw these photos. They were taken in chronological order so as you can see I was really hungry in the begining and a buzzing bee by the end.
When I plan on going to the fair I usually starve myself for a few hours so I can pig out on everything when I get there. But this time the wait was longer than expected because Buddah and I were taking advantage of the sunset. By the time I got to that corn dog I was starving.
I think I look like a hungry zombie in that picture but oh well— it’s my tribute to resident evil.

Jazz in the Garden

At the end of my shift at the Sun Sentinel, I hit a dead end trying to get neighbors reactions to a murder suicide case in Dania Beach on Saturday. After being kicked out of the complex by security I headed out to Miami Gardens to cover the Jazz in the Garden music festival in my fellow journo Deborah Acosta.

This was given to us as a last minute assignment by the Miami Times so when we got there we were surprised that they had sent two of their own to cover the event instead. If there is one thing I’ve learned about being a journalist it is being able to talk your way through any situation. And that’s what we did—successfully.

Although we were limited to the media tent I did manage to sneak past security and film Eryrah Badu and Common as they performed. The night actually turned out to be so much fun. Aside from enjoying the music from my favorite artists, we found some free Pollo Tropical food on the sneak tip behind the media tent and we filmed Eryrah  and Common’s press interview.

We left around 1am and although we were exhausted the 14 hour day was well worth it. I’ll post the event video soon but in the mean time here is a pic I took with my iphone.
